Episode Notes

Several years ago, I had a friend who was determined to start a business. She had the perfect products that she loved, and she was able to find the perfect location for her store. She had a storefront on a busy street where hundreds, if not thousands, of people, walked by every single day.

Whenever someone walked into her store, she made the effort to smile and speak to them. Over time, there were customers who returned and customers who referred new people to her store.

Business was good -- and it was growing.

My friend really loved it and was happy!

Of course, she wanted to keep the business growing, so she started to do some research online.

She read blog posts, listened to podcasts, and researched several business coaches. As a result, she decided that she needed a website and blog -- because this would give her customers direct access to her business, and they could order online.

Then, she decided to start a podcast where she could showcase her products and build community with people who would benefit most from them.

Lastly, she hired a business coach who always provided her with tasks that she should do in order to grow her business. Every week, the coach would provide a list of activities that needed to be completed...and provided encouragement and motivation.

And, YES!!! She was super motivated!!

But, with everything that she was adding to her plate, she didn’t have the time to be in her store as much. The customers who looked forward to seeing her, were disappointed when they went into the store - and she wasn’t there.

So, they stopped dropping in.

They stopped bringing friends.

They stopped referring others.

And business declined.

Eventually, my friend started to get increasingly discouraged. She was doing all the things she was supposed to be doing…

So why wasn’t her business growing??

And why wasn’t she happy anymore?

Well, it turns out that she had a bad case of Squirrel Syndrome.

Never heard of it?? I’ll explain more in today’s podcast...
